"I am the Bread of Life, whoever comes to me will never be hungry again...", John 6:35

Picture

We understand that helping a person find their "daily bread" may only be filling up their literal bellies.  And yes, Jesus was talking about so much more.  But the hard facts are that people can't begin to fathom what their spiritual needs may be until their physical needs are met.  One meal at a time, one project at a time, one connection at a time; our hope is that by demonstrating God's grace in our community we can make a difference in the lives of many.

The Bread of Life Project was created to serve those who most need our help; the homeless, food-insecure, elderly, low income families, and children.  Our goal is to meet their needs with the help of our partners and volunteers.  Jesus taught us in verse after verse that "those in the margins" were his priority, they will be first at his table and they should be first at ours too.  We are all blessed when we get out of our comfort zone and see the face of Jesus in everyone around us.  Comfort is over-rated, we've been sent in to the world to do good work as a show of our faith, to make connections, to meet the needs of those who need us, and to demonstrate grace to all those we come in contact with at every opportunity, advocating love and acceptance.  Join us on our journey to bring The Bread of Life Project to all our neighbors, (yours, ours, the world)!

Our Mission: We have been convicted to bring about transformation in our community, we are compelled to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, and we are committed to reach out and simply care for others. It is our intention to get in the trenches to meet the needs of our community through social interaction, friendships, hard work and God's guidance.

Current Projects

Projects are what we are all about.  Transformation can occur in people's lives when we reach out and show them that we care and that they are loved.  Advocacy and compassion opens the door to integrity and mutual respect.

Ongoing Weekly Service to the Homeless of Oklahoma City:

We have partnered with another organization, (Feed His Sheep) and now meet downtown every Sunday morning at 9:45 am in the parking lot on E. California (off of Sheridan) behind Sonic & across the street from City Rescue Mission.  We serve food, fill clothing orders, and bring goodies we have gathered during the week (toiletries, socks, underwear, razors, backpacks, bug spray, etc.)  But most importantly, we set up tables and chairs and sit and talk, hear stories, learn names, remember faces, make friends, fellowship with one another, and are filled beyond measure and blessed beyond description.  The invisible are visible and they have become our friends.  They have taught us to love one another regardless of our differing backgrounds and situations.  We, on the other hand, are learning how to BE the church instead of merely "doing church" on Sundays - sitting in a pew - missing out on all this grace and goodness.  Everyone is welcome to join us at any time.

Current Fundraiser Event:
Our fundraising garage sale was such a huge success!  We raised almost $1700 for the needs of the projects and the organization!  Thank you so much to all who donated their time, money, garage sale items, muscles, energy, and prayers to this wonderful project.

The Pillow Pet donation to the children at the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children in south OKC was also a huge success.  We delivered 55 pillow pets to the kids and met our goal at literally the last second!  Several of us were able to take a tour of the facilities there and meet some of the kids and their lovely house mom.  We learned about their organization and the awesome programs they have for the kids. The cottages have wish lists and you can check them out here to donate what you may be able to help with: http://www.obhc.org/NetCommunity/page.aspx?pid=321

Mustang School District Food Backpack Program:
The Program:
Mustang-area elementary schools are already enrolled in a weekend backpack food program.  Backpacks filled with easy to prepare, nutritious food are discretely given to children on Fridays to ensure they have enough to eat on the weekend while away from breakfast and lunch programs at school.
The Bread of Life Project offers food backpacks to middle school & 9th grade children who need assistance.  Backpacks will be delivered to the child’s school every Friday.  Counselors may contact a project team-member to enroll students in the program.

The Resources:
If your school is not presently enrolled in a weekend backpack food program, contact us today for more information.
